He may be the youngest fighter in UFC history to compete, but he’s also the first fighter to earn the coveted eye-striking belt.
Former UFC lightweight champion Luke Rockhold earned the belt in 2013 after defeating Josh Koscheck at UFC 167.
A year later, Rockhold claimed the belt, and after winning his first UFC title fight, he returned to the Octagon with the belt as well.
This past week, Rockfeller took to Twitter to share his first-ever fight against veteran champion Joe Lauzon, who had previously earned the title.
Lauzon was a part of a four-fight winning streak in which he defeated Johny Hendricks in December, Anthony Pettis in January and Rory MacDonald in May.
Rockfellos last fight was a decision win over Demian Maia at UFC 168.
Lauzo won a unanimous decision over Rockhold at UFC 166.
Rockfeller also claimed the title in 2013, beating fellow featherweight champion Ronda Rousey at UFC 196 in front of a record crowd of 9,000 fans at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Rockfeler will compete in his first bout against Lauzon for the vacant title at UFC 207 on July 15 in Las Vegas.
